I have my own “Collector’s Edition” story to tell. It’s not because of a banned record cover, though. It’s about scarcity.
The outstanding 45 single below, You’re Not That Girl/Elevator Boyby The P-15s, originally sold for $1.00 back in 1980. My band sold a couple hundred of the 500 we pressed at the time. Several years ago, I was contacted by a guy who collected and traded independently-produced PowerPop records from the 1980s. He offered me $10 each for any copies I still had. I sold him ten, made a cool 100 bucks. I’ve got a few more left, if anyone’s interested.
